Adoption Update & More!

Well, we made it through the Christmas holidays and I only melted down once, okay maybe twice. But if you had as much stuff going on as I did, you may not blame me. :) On the 20th we had our home study. Prior to the home study we had decided the dogs room needed to go. It had the world's nastiest couch and yucky indoor/outdoor carpet. So Matthew and Merle (the father-in-law) ripped up the carpet and installed a hard wood floor three weeks before the home study. But then we had lots of Christmas parties and time was slipping by quickly. Then Pam (the mother-in-law) and I painted the room a nice soothing shade of green on the 17th with a little help from Mitchell. That night we realized the ceiling really did need to be painted, as did the new trim. On the 18th, Merle and I painted the ceiling and later that night Matthew did the trim. Thank goodness that day Mitchell was in preschool and then Mom took care of him. That night we moved the scrap cabinet into the new scraproom. The next day Rebekah and Pam came over again to help clean up the house for the home study and was it a wreck! I bought storage bins for the reas of the scrap area, we moved stuff into that and just put in into the room. Needless to say with Rebekah's freaky love of cleaning and Bleach (love you Bekah!) and the scrap area now enclosed in a room that was obviously still not finished, the house was ready to go for the home study.



The home study was a cakewalk compared to preparing for it. The lady who did it was nice and had no problems with problems in the scrap area (wires everywhere) since it was an obvious renovation in progress. She asked us a few more questions and Mitchell was a doll. Well, except for finding his most obnoxiously loud toy and insisting on playing with it. We are still waiting on hearing back from the agency, but we think we are fine. If all goes well, we'll be "paper pregnant" by March 1st!!! Paper Pregnancy is when our one-page scrap page goes into a book for birth moms to chose from. It can last as short as a few days to about two years.

So after all of this we had an empty room and we moved more furniture around the house and bought Mitchell new furniture for his room. We had one very full day of shopping for furniture and ended up getting a good deal on solid oak furniture at a local consignment store. Which meant this mommy got to do some shopping looking for new bedding for her baby boy. I chose a bedspread called Under Construction since Mitchell is very much into cars especially dump trucks. And this one is reversible, so when he outgrows this one hopefully we'll be able to flip it over. You can see what the other side looks like at the top. And It came in today!! Mitchell was so excited when I made his bed. He hugged me and said "Thank you Mommy!" So here is Mitchell enjoying his new bed and bed spread.

Then the old study became the new baby's room and the old scrap area/dining room became the new study. That was a two day process itself. But now pretty much everything is done. We still have a little things here and there to do, like replacing the light in the study since it looks dated and is a PITR to clean. (yeah right I clean it. My mom does that I think) So here are the new two rooms.
And yes, the aggie diplomas will find a new home as will the Rusty Greer picture and the 1927 Yankees pennant.
