Mitchell's first vacation-Seabrook Island, SC

We just got home from our first vacation and first time to ride in a plane. We joined my parents at Seabrook Island in South Carolina. Mitchell seemed to have a great time on the plane and the passengers around us gave him a 10 out of 10 on behavior. On the way back, was a slightly different story. He was fussy when he was awake, and that was about half of the trip. Matthew remembers it more because all I remember is my sweet boy asleep in my lap. The Beach was much different from the Gulf of Mexico beaches I remember as a kid. There was a definite high tide and low tide with 30 yards difference in the beach available. Mom had bought Mitchell a float that was a race car and we filled it with water and let him play in that. Later on in the morning Mitchell and I went out "skimming" on the waves. I'll post a video of that later. Depending on the time Mitchell could take or leave the water on the beach.

We saw lots of native wildlife on the beach and in the water. Matthew said it was the best vacation he's ever had in terms of seeing wildlife in their native habitat. One thing we did not get a good picture of is the foxes that were on the island. The first picture is of a horseshoe crab. We saw lots of those and Matthew rescued one of them. They are not pretty creatures. The second picture is a crab we saw on one of our many evening walks. It was missing one pincher, but the other one was snapping at us yet he didn't move much. The third picture is of some dolphins that Matthew saw on a bike ride the beach one evening. Mitchell and I stayed behind in the condo. He also saw a shark, but that picture is far away and blurry. The last picture is of a turtle that we saw when we visited the Aquarium in Charleston. It's an okay one, but I wouldn't go to Charleston just for that.

Speaking of walks.. here are some more pictures of us on our walks. Mitchell liked it when you held him up in the air like he was flying.

A family picture.

And when we weren't at the beach Mitchell liked to crawl around the condo and one of his favorite places was underneath the coffee table. There he would bang on the underneath with his Roll-abouts. Please note the obnoxious Aggie diaper bag behind him.
